Reach is only the beginning

A longer equivalent focal length narrows the field of view, which can make a distant subject larger in the frame. It does not automatically produce a sharper photograph. Native sensor pixels, light, atmospheric haze and the ability to hold the phone steady all matter.

Compare like with like

This page uses the same subject geometry for both phones. That makes the difference visible: one device may fill more of the frame, while another may still produce a similar result after a modest crop in bright conditions.
