How to read the result
The tool analyzes a square around the point you choose. It uses local edge contrast as a transparent blur signal, checks whether tonal information is lost at the brightest or darkest end, and reports how many source pixels remain in the selected region.
What a low detail signal can mean
It may indicate motion blur, hand shake, haze, missed focus, heavy noise reduction, or simply a subject that occupied too few sensor pixels. The result separates those possibilities from the common misconception that more digital zoom always creates more recoverable detail.
Use it for the next shot
- If local detail is low, stabilize the phone and capture several frames before increasing crop.
- If highlights clip, reduce exposure for bright moons, clouds and reflective aircraft.
- If shadows clip, avoid trying to rescue a distant subject in very low light.
